Thanks!
Here is the message.... (sorry, I'm sure some of you subscribe to the
linux hams list too, sorry about the double post.)
Hello everyone, I decided to TOSS TNOS and I need some help setting up
a
AXIP link... I have the AX25 kernel stuff talking to my kiss tnc just
fine... everything is working great so far. I'm using the 2.0.33 kernel
with the module f patch for the ax25 utils. etc. etc. etc. AX25 call
connects work just fine on my radio port...
I'm now trying to duplicate a AXIP link that I had working fine in TNOS,
maybe one of the ex TNOS users can show me the errors of my ways.
I used to create a AXIP link in TNOS using the following commands where
'nv'
is the name of the port on my end:
attach axip nv 256 206.14.170.172 nvip
ax25 hport nv off
ax25 digi nv on
I'm now trying to setup the AXIP link using the ax25ipd deamon. My
ax25ipx.conf file has the following commands in it, I have it setup as a
digi type AXIP link:
socket ip
mode digi
mycall nc7j-9
myalias nvip
device /dev/ttyq0
speed 9600
loglevel 0
route n7rh 206.14.170.172
I want to connect to N7RH on the other end of the AXIP link so I added
the
route n7rh 206.14.170.172, in TNOS you didn't have to add specific
routes
down the AXIP link, you just connected on the port that was the axip
link.
Maybe I don't understand this part of the config file.
OK, then at startup I issue the following kissattach and ax25ipd
commands:
/usr/sbin/kissattach /dev/ptyq0 nv
/usr/sbin/ax25ipd &
The ax25ipd & command doesn't return me to the prompt when I issue it
manually by the way??? When I hit enter after the copyright text, it
gives
me the prompt back with a 'ps Done' remark. Is it suppose to do this or
am I
just a bonehead?
OK, moving on, in my axports file I have a port setup like:
nv NC7J-10 9600 256 7 AXIP port description
I named the port nv, because the other end of the AXIP link is in
Nevada...
FWIW...
Now when I issue a 'call' to N7RH on the other end of AXIP link, the
call
program just sits there trying to connect... duh, something is not
working.
I know the link on the other end is setup correctly to point at my Linux
box's eth0 IP address... gw.qrq.com or 209.140.73.6. I had the AXIP
link
working just fine with TNOS.
Can someone help?
Thanks! I hope I have provided enough information.
Regards
mg
